Family Karaoke for 50th Anniversary Slideshow

I look back at all the work I did last year, and this one always pops up as special and brings a smile on my face! I made this 50th Anniversary Slideshow just like my regular day's work, but in the end it gets really interesting when the family breaks into a Karaoke, showing their unique personalities with their favorite family song.

Here is a short clip of their performance:



It was not easy taking about 20 minutes of footage and bringing it down to a few minutes. I am always worried about leaving out something good. But at the end, I know that I need to edit well to bring the emotions across in the most positive way. After going through the videos over a hundred times and working on them for hours, the song got stuck in my head and I was singing it ALL the time :-)

Dr. K and his family did a great job with shooting the videos and sending them over to me. The clips fit right in with the mood of the whole Slideshow and the storyline we had planned for the show. I added some nice special effects, backgrounds, borders and other interesting elements and everything got tied in together pretty neatly. The good music in the song they chose, added the "WOW" factor to the Slideshow.

Brit Marling said - "I always feel like the editing room is like coming into the kitchen. What kind of a meal do you make from there? It can be anything."
And this is exactly how I feel about editing. After all these years of working with DVD Slideshows, I am still amazed every time, when I see a box of photographs and a bunch of unedited video clips transform into something so concise and beautiful.
